JCB Electric Mini Digger 19C-1E Review
Jul 19, 2019

So here we have the electric mini digger with zero emissions.

We trialed it yesterday.

Pretty good.

Got all the power of a normal mini digger.

But the battery ran out [after be fully charged] after 2 hours.

Here it is being charged up again.

And it takes 8 hours to charge it up with this big fuck-off generator.

Zero emissions? My arse!

On Monday, the National Grid turned to coal to power the nation’s homes as wind power failed to meet requirements. French energy firm EDF was asked to fire up two coal units at West Burton A power station in Nottinghamshire, one of the last remaining coal-burning plants in the country, due to be decommissioned next year.

The firing up of the West Burton station marked the end of the UK’s most recent coal-free spell and the first time since March that coal has generated more than 1.5GW of power.

UN Climate Change Conference Reportedly Using Diesel Generators To Charge Teslas Being Used As Shuttles

We’re not sure we can think of a better analogue for the lunacy behind the climate change hysteria that what is reportedly going on in Glasgow.

As many people know, the Conference of the Parties (COP) Climate Change Conference, hosted by the UK in partnership with Italy, is taking place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.

One blogger from Brighton wrote this week that attendees from the conference will be staying at Gleneagles Hotel.

He wrote that there’s 20 Teslas at the hotel to shuttle people back and forth to and from the convention, which is about 75km.

    Then, the kicker.

Since the hotel only has one Tesla charging station, diesel generators were contracted to help recharge the Teslas overnight.

    • In spite of what one may conclude, that may still be a more economical option. However that depends on the overall conversion efficiency. That is the fuel consumed by the generator in charging the 20 EV’s as against 20 diesel taxis plying in the Glasgow traffic.

If properly organised for the long haul, the hotel may have such dedicated generator (a suitable type – they exist) that may run on a mix of diesel and used cooking fats and oils, thus also reducing their carbon footprint. But that is for engineers not politicians.
